Members of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) reportedly hurled eggs and tomatoes at police personnel while trying to gherao the State Assembly on Thursday.
Protesting the alleged failure on the part of the State Government in creating jobs, the members of the youth wing of the BJP marched towards the Assembly. But they were stopped by police at Lower PMG here, following which a scuffle ensued between them and the cops as the agitators tried to break the barricades.
Eggs and tomatoes were hurled at the police by the agitators, reports said.
BJYM State unit president Tankadhar Tripathy alleged that the State Government has utterly failed to solved the unemployment problem. Moreover, he said that while the BJP-led Government at the Centre is trying to generate more jobs, the Odisha Government is creating hindrances for job creation in the State.
“The Centre wants to expand the NTPC network and construct a reservoir at Chandikhol, but the State Government poses a threat to such development schemes. Even, the BJD Government is not cooperating with the Centre in the coastal highway and railway projects, which can generate a large number of jobs for Odia youths,” he said.
