Stung by the revelations of involvement of its personnel in a job fraud racket and also in the wake of arrest of a person for allegedly duping people to the tune of Rs 22 lakh on the pretext of providing them jobs in the East Coast Railway (ECoR), the ECoR authorities on Tuesday enforced restriction of unauthorised entry into its headquarters here.
The authorities also ordered a departmental probe into the alleged involvement of its staffs in the fraud.
ECoR Chief Personnel Officer (CPO) Manju Ray told reporters here that whoever found guilty would be taken to task.
“It has come to our notice that some people have been arrested by police for duping youths of lakhs by promising them to provide jobs in Railways. It has also been alleged that some railway staffs are involved in the racket. We have taken the issue seriously and a departmental inquiry is on. Guilty will not be spared,” said Ray, adding that entry of unauthorised persons to ECoR headquarters would be checked.
She further informed that if necessary the ECoR would opt for CBI probe.
Meanwhile, the ECoR has launched a massive campaign to educate people so that the innocent unemployed youths would not fall prey to these types of rackets and also to educate prospective candidates about the structure and system of Railway Examination and the entire process of Railway Recruitment System.
“Forged call letters, fake joining letters have been issued to them and fake interviews are also conducted by them. The fraud organisations are paying them the first month salary and there after discard their communication with the victims. This racket is also taking them to Railway Stations and asking the victims to note down the train numbers, train movements and other similar railway operations work which are completely fraudulent,” stated the statement.
Maintaining that there was no system of personal interaction through any agent or through any agency for recruitment in railways instead all the railway examinations were being conducted online to ward off chances of any wrong doings, it advised aspirants to have a background check and also confirm from the Railway Official sources for verification.
“All the recruitment is being notified through newspaper advertisements especially in Employment News and in leading national newspapers of the country. For Group-D posts, the examinations are being conducted through Railway Recruitment Cell of East Coast Railway and for Group-C posts, examinations are being held through Railway Recruitment Boards. In case there are any doubts regarding genuineness of any call letter or letter of appointment, the prospective candidates can check with the Office of the Chief Personnel Officer of ECoR. Any complaints in this regard can be made to East Coast Railway Vigilance Helpline Number-8455885031,” it added.
