Hundreds of job aspirants were left in the lurch after companies failed to turn up in a job fair organised by a private organisation here. The matter came to light after a police complaint was lodged in this connection at the Khandagiri police station on Friday.
Sources said organisation SS Global had promised applicants to organise a three-day job fair with participation from 300 companies at the Baramunda Ground in the city. With hope to get a job, applicants had registered themselves with SS Global by paying Rs 240. Applicants who went through a selection process on January 28 at the fair were asked to appear at the venue on January 30, informed sources. However, no one turned up on January 30.
“During the registration process, the agency told us that 300 companies would participate in the three-day job fair. I was asked to reach the venue on January 30 to appear for an interview, but no one turned up at the venue,” said a job aspirant.
