Alleging that the Office of Deputy Director, Horticulture, Baripada, has been acting in a way which is totally inconsistent with MGNREGS guidelines and contrary to the rules and norms of the National Health Mission, the JMM on Wednesday demanded a thorough inquiry.
The JMM cited the example of Samakhunta block of the district, where, according to them, here has been no rubber plantation worth the name and the entire money has been grabbed by the unscrupulous Horticulture Department officials in the name of rubber plantation.
The party demanded a probe into financial operations and transactions of the office for the last three years.
The JMM delegation led by its State general secretary Kalinga Keshari Jena met the Mayurbhanj ADM Surath Mallik in this connection and submitted to him a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. There has been a lot of financial misappropriation and large-scale corruption in the Horticulture Office and therefore the matter requires an immediate high-level investigation in the larger interest of the tribal-dominated district, the JMM delegation stressed during their interaction with the district administration.
