A one-sided love affair took an ugly turn when a youth, Kahnu Charan Gouda, strangulated a girl and later set her ablaze at Patrachudi village under the Chikiti police station in Ganjam district on Thursday night.
Sources said accused Kahnu was in love with a girl who had repeated rejected his advances. He used to pass obscene remarks at her and after the girl informed about this to her brother, he had even warned Kahnu to stay away from her.
livid over this, Kahnu entered the girl’s house when she was alone and strangulated her to death. later, he set her body ablaze by pouring kerosene on her and fled from the spot.
Police have registered a case and have launched a manhunt to nab the accused. The barbaric incident has sent shockwaves in the area and the local residents have demanded stringent action against the accused.
