In a barbaric incident at Kendubadi village under the Polasara police station in Ganjam district, a youth barged into the house of a girl on Wednesday afternoon, poured petrol and set her on fire.
The girl received severe burn injuries and was rushed to the Aska hospital. The girl’s mother, who rushed to her rescue, was also severely injured.
Sources said after the girl spurned his advances repeatedly, to take revenge the youth took the drastic step while she was preparing food in the kitchen. The accused has been identified as Madhab Gouda. After the incident he fled from the spot.
later, the mother and daughter duo was shifted to the MKCG Medical College Hospital here and stated to be in a critical condition. The police have launched a manhunt to nab the culprit, sources said.
