An incident has come to the fore in Mayurbhanj district where a jilted lover posted obscene pictures and video on social media after allegedly raping a college girl.
The incident has come to light four months after the video went viral.
The accused was identified as Lemba (23), son of Singu Hembram and resident of Jamda village under the Gorumahisani police station.
Sources said Lemba had an one-side love affair with a college girl and had proposed her several times. But she had rejected his overtures and informed about it to her parents following which they reprimanded the youth to stay away from her.
In a bid to take revenge, on April 15 Lemba dragged the girl to a forest and raped her while she was returning home from college.
He threatened the victim to post the rape photos and video if she informed anybody about the incident.
The frightened victim also remained silent and did not reveal her ordeal to anyone.
But Lemba after four months posted the pictures and video of the girl on social media on August 5. After the video went viral, the father of the victim lodged a complaint with the Gorumahisani police.
