Jharsuguda school runs in godown!

The primary education system is in a shambles in the industry-rich Jharsuguda district.

Sources said that a total of 58 students from Classes-1 to 5 are reading in the Chithuapada Government Primary School located within Jharsuguda township. Out of total 58 students, 16 in class 1, 10 in class 2, 18 in class 3, 8 in class 4 and 6 in class 5 are continuing their studies.

Unfortunately, due to shortage of required classrooms, all students are forced to sit in one room used for storage of midday meal rice bags.  The Government has posted one Headmaster and one Assistant Teacher in this school. Interestingly, when a teacher takes one class, students of other 4 classes have to sit idle and silent. Besides, one booth level office (BlO) is also running in the same room. During rainy season, all classes are suspended to allow students for taking midday meal.

For the last 10 years, the school is running in a difficult situation. Even regular visits to the school by officials like BRC, CRCC have not improved situation. Political leaders and people’s representatives seem to be helpless in the matter. In the process, the future of the innocent students appears to be dark and uncertain.
