The Government Railway Police (GRP) here on Thursday took satta and scrap mafia Deepak Sahu, who had been arrested in connection with a firing case, on a two-day remand for interrogation. The Orient police had arrested Sahu and seized a country-made gun from him on Tuesday. He was later produced before the SDJM Court here.
According to police, Sahu had opened fire on newly-elected general secretary of the Jharsugurda Private Bus Owners’ Association Sanjay Kar on December 24, 2014, and had been absconding since then. The GRP had registered an attempt to murder case against him. “We will interrogate him regarding the weapon he had used in firing at Sanjay Kar at the bus stand,” a GRP policeman said seeking anonymity.
