The implementation of Indira Awas Yojana in Jharsuguda district has been quite satisfactory. ''The district has got the seventh position in the State for its performance in the scheme,” said Northern Division Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) HBS Rajput at a Press meet here on Wednesday.

At the start of the current fiscal, out of a target of 9,000 houses, the district has completed 3,903 houses till date, he informed.

During the last financial year, the performance of the district was not up to mark. However this year, there has been a lot of improvement on this score. After a final review in July by him, the success has been found to be remarkable, Rajput said.

According to the RDC, the main reason behind this success is the financial help given to the benefactors by the Government for completion of houses within specified timeframe. The Government is giving more money to those completing houses within four months.

Besides, the house contractors and public are also undergoing a special training and awareness drive, he said, adding that the performance on the Biju Pucca Ghar scheme in the district is also quite satisfactory.

At the national level, Odisha has become the first-ever State in implementation of the Indira Awas Yojana. The Chief Minister is personally reviewing the performance through videoconferencing on second of every month to achieve cent-per-cent compliance, the RDC said.

Regarding the National Food Safety Act, he said 4,000 families of Jharsuguda district are getting benefit under the scheme. A total of 3 lakh 78 thousand 592 persons would be given ration cards within 10 days from October 2, he said.

The voters can also correct their names in the voter list by October 14 in their booths, said the RDC on visit to some booths to review the performance. District Collector Parameswaran B and other district officers were present at the meeting with the RDC.
