The Kuakhia police in Jajpur district on Tuesday took Jharaphula Nayak death case accused Rakesh Swain to Mulapala in the district where the body of the girl had been dumped by him and his friend Shekhar. On the first day of the three-day remand period, the Jajpur Road SDPO interrogated Rakesh at the Kuakhia police station.
The accused was also questioned in the presence of Jharaphula’s father Ramakant Nayak in connection with his relationship with the girl, who was a student of the Rama Devi Women’s University, Bhubaneswar. Police are also likely to take him to the room no. 201 of the OYO Shiv Sai Guest House in Bhubaneswar, where he and Jharaphula had stayed, for reconstruction of the scene on the fateful night.
The Twin City Commissionerate Police had arrested Rakesh from his residence at Sundarpada in Bhubaneswar and handed him over to the Jajpur police.
