The work for the 38-km Jeypore-Nabarangapur new railway project under the Waltair Division of the East Coast Railway (ECoR) is in progress for which a detailed project report (DPR) had been sanctioned by the Railway Board in June 2017.
An ECoR release informed that the work is being executed with immediate effect with the final location survey being done by a contractual agency. While the survey up to Borigumma has already been completed, the rest of the work is in progress.
The schedules for land acquisition has been prepared for the three villages covering up to 10 km from the Jeypore railway station and the same would be submitted to the Nabarangpur district Collector within 10 days by August 18. Another schedule for land acquisition up to Borrigumma (20.775 km) would be submitted to Collector by September 10, it informed.
As rainy season is continuing, the above land is under cultivation, and therefore, the reference pillars could not be fixed and alignment pillars at stipulated intervals also could not be planned at site.
There is only one crossing station at Borigumma and terminal station is at Nabarangapur. Two passenger halts are proposed at Ambaguda Road and Kalilguda village.
Railway Engineers are already at the site to execute the work, it said.IJ
