In view of the Dhanteras to be celebrated on Friday, the Commissionerate police have made elaborate arrangements here to ensure adherence to the Covid-19 guidelines. This was informed by Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Dash on Wednesday.
“We will ensure the guidelines issued by the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) are followed in Bhubaneswar during Dhanteras. Discussions were held with jewellery shop owners in the city in connection with this. Social distancing, mask wearing and adherence to the guidelines will be ensured with deployment of additional police personnel in (the) areas where jewellery shops are located,” said the DCP. If there is any violation of the guidelines or an increase in the number of people at a jewellery shop, police may take action and seal the shop temporarily, he added.
Asked about the crackdown on firecracker shops and godowns in the city, Dash said such places are being checked and awareness being created among people not to sell and use firecrackers.Earlier in the day, the police seized two and a half trucks of firecrackers from two godowns in the Jatni area, he informed.
