Miscreants looted a jewellery shop at Kalarahanga under the Infocity police station in the capital city on Friday night.
The burglars damaged the CCTV camera of the shop and gained access by breaking the shutter and gate.
The burglary came to light on Saturday morning after a local informed the owner about it.
The shop owners said he got information from a customer that the gate and shutter of his shop were broken. Following which he went to the police station and lodged a complaint. But he was not sure about the amount of jewellery stolen which he can ascertain after assessment.
Preliminary investigation revealed that two to three miscreants were involved in the incident. A forensic team was on the spot and the matter was being investigated.
Locals alleged that lack of police patrolling at night has emboldened the antisocial elements in the area.
