The ‘229 JDCA Meet the Artist’ (MTA) illustrated lecture series held here on Saturday was addressed by Prof Binaya Bhusan Jena, Director of National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Bhubaneswar.
He focused on eco-friendly handloom and handicraft products especially from Odisha, where sustainable production practices were used to create products.
The lecture made a case for how these responsible methodologies can be leveraged in today’s changing scenarios.
Notably, Prof Jena with a background in Economics and Marketing is intrinsically an artist. He worked on environment-friendly clothing and has authored publications on the handloom and handicraft sectors.
He worked as a textile and garment consultant to the Government of Ethiopia.
