JEE (Main) results published

The results of the first national level Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) were published on Tuesday. JEE (Main) has replaced the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) this year.

The test was conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) across the country including Odisha. Rourkela was the location for the test in the State, where around 19,000 engineering aspirants had appeared. The scores in the test would determine admission to the institutions like the National Institutes of Technology (NIT) and the Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIIT) and some deemed universities in the country.

According to the new pattern, a student’s Class XII board marks would carry 40 per cent weightage and JEE scores would carry 60 per cent weightage for admissions. The top 1.5 lakh scorers would be eligible for the JEE (Advanced) test, scores in which would determine admission to the IITs and the Indian School of Mines in Dhanbad.

All eligible candidates for JEE (Advanced), scheduled for June 2, should register at http://jeeadvonline.iitd.ac.in/ or http://jeeadv.iitd.ac.in/ between May 8 and 13, said the CBSE officials sources.
