Jayaram Pangi opts out of lS race

Published on:

Senior BJD leader and sitting party MP from Koraput Jayaram Pangi on Tuesday said he would not contest from lok Sabha or Assembly seat in the ensuing elections.

He has reportedly requested the Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik to look for a suitable candidate in his place. Pangi said he took this decision because of his ill health. He was recently under treatment at the AIIMS, New Delhi for a spinal cord complication.

However, sources in the BJD said Pangi’s unwillingness has a lot to do with the internal politics of the district unit of the BJD.
