'Javadekar's CBI jibe proves agency's misuse'

Published on:

Sharply reacting to Union Minister Prakash Javadekar’s assertion that the CBI would arrest more BJD MPs and MlAs, State ruling party vice-president and spokesperson Prasanna Acharya on Sunday said Javadekar’s statement has proved that the Union Government is using the CBI and other Central agencies for its political gains.

“Is Javadekar spokesperson of the CBI or is the CBI operating under himIJ Or, is he an authorised officer of the CBIIJ Or, is it that the CBI regularly informs Union Ministers about its activitiesIJ” wanted to know Acharya at a Press meet held here.

Acharya, also a Rajya Sabha member, too wanted whether the CBI takes lists from the BJP or Union Ministers to make arrests. “People’s doubt that the CBI acts a caged parrot of the Union Government has been deepened by Javadekar’s statement. The Union Minister’s statement has brought to fore the real face of the BJP Government at the Centre and the CBI,” said Acharya.

Acharya said the CBI had lost its dignity when the Supreme Court termed it as a caged parrot, and what else it had was lost during the current Union Government.

“The CBI has turned out to be an office of the BJP. The BJP has destroyed many traditional institutes of the Independent India. It has done harm to the Bharatiyata (Indianism). The Union Government is now using the CBI to put rival parties in trouble,” alleged Acharya.

He said the Union Government is influencing investigation directly and indirectly by interfering into the CBI activities for its political gains and, thus, destroying federal structure of the country.

“The BJD and people of Odisha don’t fear such statements,” he said.

Among others, Health Minister Pratap Jena, spokesperson Dr Sasmit Patra and secretary Bijay Nayak weer present.
