A cyber fraudster allegedly honey-trapped a resident of Jatni in Khordha district and swindled Rs 71,000 from him posing as a police officer. The victim was identified as Benudhara Muduli.
Benudhar got a nude video call from an unidentified number. A few hours after getting that video call, Benudhar again got a call from another unknown number.
Identifying himself a Delhi-based IPS Officer, the caller told Benudhar that he had saved the nude video call recording of him with the girl and threatened to lodge a complaint against him.
And if he wanted the video call not to be made viral, he should pay him Rs 1.5 lakh. Finding no other alternative, Benudhar deposited Rs 71,000 in four installments to prevent being arrested.
The matter came to light after Benudhar filed a complaint with the Cyber police.
Earlier, an engineer had fallen prey in the same manner and lost Rs 25 lakh.
