Jareikela police outpost to reopen soon

The Jareikela outpost under the Bisra police station of the Rourkela police district which is nonoperational since 2010 for Maoist fear would be reopened soon, said police source. It may be noted that in January 2010, Maoists planted three landmines, including one at the Jareikela outpost. One landmine failed to explode while heavy loss was caused to the Bondamunda Kukuda railway gate and a cabin and minor damage was caused to the Bisra tehsil office.

As the Maoists were active in the Bhalulata, Jareikela, Tulsikani and Ramloi areas, apprehending risk the then Rourkela SP Diptesh Pattanaik ordered to close down the Jareikela outpost and its personnel were shifted to the Bisra PS.

Since then, villagers of Jareikela have to cover a distance of 14 km to the Bisra PS for any police assistance. As of now, due to CRPF deployment at Jareikela, Digha, Tiriliposhi, Thalkobad and Kaleiposh Maoist activities in the area have drastically reduced. That is why it is planned to reopen the outpost and, accordingly, renovation work is over, said the source.
