During the recent visit to Japan by Baleswar MP RK Jena as a part of FICCI’s Indo- Japan forum of Parliamentarians and senior representatives of industries, he made a strong pitch to attract Japanese companies to invest in Odisha and set up metal and mineral-based industries.

He also reiterated his views in the meeting of Japan-India Business Cooperation Committee (JIBCC), urging the business leaders to invest substantially in India, particularly in Odisha and Baleswar.

“Emphasis was laid on the development of tourist circuit, mainly the sea coast projects of Baleswar, involving the unique and serene beaches including Talseri, Dagara and Chandipur and promotion of ports. Besides, stress was laid on infrastructural development of Odisha, including metro rail project,” said Jena.

“The IPR, 2015 of Odisha is very industry friendly and the State has a huge young workforce on which one can bank upon,” Jena said.

“During the tour, we visited another wonderful facility of Toyota, on scrapping of old used cars, which follows strong environmental norms.

The Government of Japan has strong legislative environment norm for the scrapping of old cars. I was particularly interested in this and will propose for such a law in India to protect our environment,” Jena opined.

Jena, as a member of a Parliamentary delegation, was on a five-day tour, between May 18 and 23 to  Japan aiming  to study Japanese technology and models that are relevant for India's 'Make in India' initiative.
