The sixth death anniversary of Swami laxamananada Saraswati and the Janmastami festival were bserved in Kandhamal district, particularly at Swamiji’s Chakapada and Jalespeta ashrams peacefully amidst tight security on Sunday. Security was beefed up at both the ashrams for the celebration.
One platoon force was deployed at the Chakapada ashram while security was tightened at all sensitive points of the communally-vulnerable district.
Sources said Hindu spiritual leaders from across the country joined the programme of the seer’s death anniversary. Rituals like Sankirtan, Nama Yajna and Ghruta Yajna were performed on the occasion. Unidentified miscreants had gunned down Swami along with his four associates, including an elderly woman, while they were celebrating Janmastami at the Jalespeta ashram on August 23, 2008.
