The Odisha Jan Samukhaya organised street plays at various major locations in Bhubaneswar on Saturday to make people aware about the apathetic attitude of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) towards ensuring basic civic amenities to the capital city denizens.
“The monsoon has already touched Odisha. While waterlogging problem is a major issue in the city during the rainy season, the civic body is yet to clean a single drain for smooth passage of rain and drainage water,” alleged Samrudhha Odisha president Jatish Mohanty.
He also alleged that the river embankments in rural areas in the State are yet to be strengthened to prevent flood.Alleging that Chief Minister Naveen patnaik is busy organising a massive rally in New Delhi to seek Special Category State status just to divert the attention of people from the Government’s failures in various fields, Mohanty appealed to the CM to address the fundamental issues of common people on a priority basis.
Among others, Republican Party of India State president Sk Adul Wali, RJD State unit president Harish Mohapatra, Odisha Communist Party secretary Sachidananda Pani, Gorachand Barik, Dr Upendra Nayak, Nirakar Beura and Pradip Senapati participated in the awareness campaign.
