Protesting irregularities in the NFSA beneficiary list, over 300 activists under the banner of the Odisha Jana Morcha, Gajapati district unit led by its president Sunil Patnaik and women wing president Aspana Rojarani gheraoed the district CSO Office on Thursday.
The activists slammed the BJD-led State Government for corruption in the NFSA list. They alleged that while many poor and eligible persons are not getting ration cards, some rich and influential people are in the list. Moreover, those who have received the card are yet to get subsidized rice, dal, sugar etc.
They later submitted a memorandum to CSO-cum-District Manager of the Odisha State Civil Supplies Corporation ltd BN Nayak addressing it to the district administration, Chief Minister and Governor. Their demands include legal action against the officers and staffs, who have helped the ineligible persons in getting ration cards and inclusion of genuine and eligible persons in the NFSA beneficiary list.
The Morcha president warned to intensify agitation if the Government does not take stern action against the offenders and provide ration card to real beneficiaries within 15 days.
