Jaleswar block of the district has been included in RURBAN mission.
The mission while aims at developing the rural growth clusters which have latent potential for growth ensuring overall development in the region, Jaleswar is being considered under the scheme by the Union Government thanks to efforts by Baleswar MP RK Jena.
“There is a lot of potential in rural areas of Baleswar which can be tapped and boosted for all round development. Recommendation for Jaleswar and Basta was sent in March last year. However, Jaleswar has been considered and included under the RURBAN mission. Hopefully, Basta would find a place in the next phase,” said Jena.
These clusters would be developed by providing economic activities, developing skills and local entrepreneurship. The mission thus develops a cluster of Smart Villages.
The State Government has utilised scientific method to select the clusters with due cognizance of rural demography, growth in non-farm work force, tourism and pilgrimage significance.
