A woman teacher allegedly committed suicide by setting herself on fire at Shanti Bazar colony in he Dharmashala area of Jajpur district on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Sarojini Das (56), who was working as a teacher at the Damodarpur Vidyapeeth in Dharmashala. According to police sources, Das was under mental stress for the last few days due to sickness.
Early on Tuesday morning while her husband was sleeping, she went inside a room and set herself ablaze after pouring kerosene over her body. Hearing her screams, her husband rushed to rescue her, but it was too late. Being informed, police reached the spot and recovered the woman’s body for postmortem. Investigation into the incident was underway.
