A 32-year-old woman, who had allegedly been branded with a hot iron rod her husband at Padmapur village under the Jajpur Road police station on Saturday night, succumbed to her serious injuries at the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack on Sunday.
The Jhumpa Kajual had married Rabi Kajual of Sapagadia village seven years ago. The couple has a five-year-old daughter and a two-year-old son. Her husband had suspected that she had an extramarital affair.
Police arrested Rabi Kajual under Sections 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code on Sunday after the death of his wife. “We are investigating the case,” said the Jajpur Road police station IIC Amitav Mohapatra.
