The railway roads of Jajpur Road are in a bad shape, causing many accidents in the town. The road from Gopabandhu Chhak to level Crossing and Dakabangala Chhak to Ganesh Bazar is not maintained properly. There are many potholes on the road.
Daily hundreds of heavy vehicles carrying chrome ore and cement are plying on this road in Bazar area. Many taxis, buses and auto rickshaws carrying passengers also use the road.
Due to heavy rains in last few days, not only this road but all others were badly damaged as rain water stayed put creating big pools on the road with no provision to release it to drains. The railway roads have been constructed in such an unplanned manner that even during rains the nearby houses of the town are inundated.
Accordingly a memorandum was placed by Nagarika Committee to the Railways AEN of Jajpur Road and the District Collector of Jajpur to take immediate steps to repair the road. The Nagarika Committee demanded early steps for eviction of unauthorized occupation of drain area by the shopkeepers also.
