Two local contractors working under Gayatri Projects limited in Tata Steel limited, Kalinganagar have threatened self-immolation in front of Kalinganagar Additional District Magistrate’s office here.
Kishore Mohan Jena of Golkund, Bari, the Proprietor of Supremo Engineering and Construction got two work orders amounting to Rs4,72, 33,000 from Gayatri Projects limited, a contractor of Tata Steel limited on March 19, 2012.
He raised bills of Rs5, 46,40,927 including service tax out of which Gayatri paid Rs3,64,02,106 till date. An amount of Rs1,82,38,821 is outstanding against the orders.
Similarly, Priyabrata Biswal, Managing Director of RB Engineering and Construction, Jaraka, said that his firm got two work orders from Gayatri and executed works of Rs5,69,28,434 out of which he had received Rs4,51,36,493 till now with much difficulty. Rs1,17, 91,941 has not been paid to him yet.
While the two contractors are yet to get over Rs3 crore from Gayatri, strangely, the latter is said to be shutting its office in Jajpur as almost all works are completed in Tata Steel.
Jena and Biswal alleged that Gayatri company was purposely delaying their payments by giving many false assurances. They said they have complained the matter at the grievance cells of the Chief Minister, the Chief Secretary and the Tata Steel authority.
The Chief Secretary advised Jajpur district administration to intervene in the matter.
At Kalinganagar ADM office, three Gayatri officials assured to pay all outstanding bills of two contractors before November, 2015 but till date, no payments have been released, they said.
