In presence of the jail officials, police, lawyers, social workers and the parents, a rape accused married the victim girl in jail here. The marriage was held after district judge of Jajpur directed the jail officials to arrange the marriage as the victim girl became a major recently.

“After getting the order of the court, we organised the marriage in the jail premises on Friday, “said Jajpur town jail superintendent Bailoch Dash.

The rape accused Bipin Bihari Khatua  (28) of Nuakalanda village under Jenapur police station has been lodged in the jail since October 25, 2013 for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl. However, after the victim agreed to marry him, both filed a joint petition in the district court last week and sought permission for their marriage.
