Rakesh, a young painter from Jajpur, recently created half-centimeter-tall idols of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra out of lemon wood. Earlier, he had made a 2-inch-tall Shiva statue and currently is building a 3.5-cm-tall Buddha statue. He expects to earn a world record for his mineature art.
Rakesh is son of Chakradhar Patra of Nathsahi village under Nathsahi panchayat in Jajpur block. He was interested in painting since childhood. He wanted to make all sorts of tiny images afterwards.
