A farmer of Kuhika village under Sukinda block in Jajpur district harvested a yam weighing 28 kg on Monday.
The yam, locally known as Khamba Allo, harvested by Braja Kishor Barik in his orchard is one of the biggest yams.
“While the normal weight of the annual crop is up to one kilogram to two kilograms, the yam weighing 28 kg is rare,” said deputy director of agriculture of Jajpur BK Raptan. Raptan termed it as an outstanding crop by an enterprising farmer.
