A floating body of 46-year-old BJD leader Kedar Das, Panchayt Samiti Member of Nijamapur gram panchayat under the Mangalapur police station in Jajpur district, was found with injury marks in river Budha near Chainapur Ghat on Thursday, two days after he had gone missing from his village Nijamapur.
“The body was discovered by some local people who noticed it floating in the river. There were also multiple injury marks on the body. Police seized the body and sent it to the Government hospital at Jajpur town for autopsy. Police have started their investigation,” said IIC of Mangalapur police station Akbar Ali.
A case of murder and destroying evidence has been registered at the police station, added the police officer.
Around 500 BJD supporters at a gathering demanded immediate arrest of the murder accused while blocking the main road at Mangalapur Chhack for three hours.
