A case has been registered against an upper caste youth on Sunday for allegedly kidnapping a minor Dalit girl and sexually assaulting her after giving false marriage promise at Jakhapura village under Jakhapura police station limits.
In a complaint lodged with the police, Ganesh Sethi, father of the 17-year-old girl, alleged on Sunday that Srikanta Nayak (21) of Jakhapura seduced and later kidnapped his daughter on August 28 after giving her false marriage promise. Both had spent four days in Puri and Bhubaneswar. But the accused ditched her daughter on Sunday. Dismayed, the girl consumed poison. She was admitted in the local Government hospital and her condition is stable, he stated.
Jakhapura police station officer Naresh Kumar Das said, “A case was filed under Sections 363, 366 and 307 of the IPC against the accused. The victim girl was medically examined and police are raiding several hideouts to arrest the accused.”
