A youth, who was missing from Monday, was found dead in a bamboo forest under mysterious circumstances near Kani riverbank and Palasahi village of Mallikapur panchayat under the Dasarathpur police station in Jajpur district on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Sabyasachi Nayak (25), son of Chittaranjan Nayak of Mohantypatana village in the district.
According to reports, family members of Sabyasachi launched a frantic search to trace him but in vain. He was spotted in the morning by some locals who informed the police..
The Dasarathpur police seized the body of Sabyasachi and sent it to hospital for postmortem.
The family of Sabyasachi alleged that the youth has been murdered.
“Drug peddling is rampant in the district. Sabyasachi has been killed and we suspect the involvement of some drug addicts in the crime,” a relative of the victim alleged.
Based on an FIR lodged by the family, police began investigation with the help of a forensic team.
