An electrician identified as Satyajit Biswal alias lipu of Jagatsinghpur municipality office, who hailed from Panisalia village, died due to electrocution on Friday.
Reports said that deceased lipu had climbed an electric poll for repairing a street light at Jaibada where he came in contact with live electric line and fell on the road receiving serious injuries on Thursday afternoon.
The injured was first sent to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for treatment from where he was shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after his condition turned critical but there he succumbed to his injuries.
The body was brought to the municipality office here where floral tributes were paid by several municipality staff members, including Chairman Biplab Choudhury and Executive Officer Maheswar Das. later, it was transported to Swargadwar, Puri for performing last rites.
