Jagatsingpur district Collector-cum-Chief District Election Officer Yamini Sarangi held a meeting with political parties, contesting candidates, senior Government officials, police and other stakeholders associated with the ensuing three-tier panchayat polls hereon Saturday.
Sarangi emphasised on strict implementation of Model Code and Conduct [MCC] issued by State Election Commission for holding polls in a free and fair manner. Persons found violating MCC would be dealt with criminal action as per the Gram Panchayat Act, she said.
Election Commission General Observer Bibhu Prasad Sarangi spelled out details of MCC and asked polls stakeholders to contact him in case any violation.
Expenditure Observer Biswajit Pal stressed candidates for maintaining proper book of accounts during poll campaigns on daily basis so that the expenditure limit restricted by the SEC would be properly verified later.
ADM Saran Kumar Jena read out details about the PRIs elections to be held in Jagatsinghpur district in five phases, the first to be held in Ersama block on February 13. DSP Jay Narayan Pankaj informed about elaborate arrangements planned for making the polls incident-free.
Among others, Sub-Collector, DRDA PD, Paradip ADM and District Panchayat Officer spoke.
