Opposing Puri BJD MP Pinaki Misra’s alleged lie in Parliament
relating to the Heritage Corridor project in Puri, the Jagannath Sena
on Friday burnt his poster here.
Misra was responding to a question of BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi in
Parliament on the alleged digging of earth and construction activities
around the Jagannath Temple posing a threat to the safety of the
shrine. While Misra was answering, he was supported by other members
of BJD sitting by.
Sarangi on Thursday drew attention of the Speaker in the Lok Sabha by
raising apprehensions on the safety of the Shreemandir due to the use
of excavators in the digging works near the shrine within the
prohibited zone. However, in a reply to Sarangi, Puri MP told the
House that there were no digging works at all; only works for four
toilets as amenities for visitors were underway. The Jagannath Sena
protested by saying that Misra told a brazen lie as the digging of
earth on a massive scale around the temple cannot be meant for toilet
construction.
Meanwhile, here the people are waiting for the Assembly Committee
which is scheduled to arrive at the temple in next few days to take
stock of the situation. The Committee of MLAs was formed after the
issue was raised in the Assembly by Puri legislator Jayant Sarangi.
