The health conditions of separated conjoined twins Jaga and Balia following the second-phase surgery at the AIIMS in New Delhi are stable, informed Health Minister Pratap Jena here on Saturday.
“By the grace of lord Jagannath, the conditions of both Jaga and Balia are well. The condition of Jaga has improved better than Balia,” Jena told reporters.
Jaga has started shaking his hands and legs and opening his eyes. As per the information provided by the AIIMS, it would take more time for them to be stable completely. We all are hopeful that the twins would return to Odisha very soon after recovery,” he added.
Entire Odisha prayed for a speedy recovery of the separated twins following the 16-hour complicated surgery by a 30-member team of doctors at the AIIMS.
However, there was panic among well-wishers and the Government after the doctors seemed skeptical about survival of one of the kids. AIIMS Neurosurgery Department chief AK Mahapatra had told the media that Jaga was more fragile health-wise and his condition was more critical.
“Both the kids have other health issues as well. While Jaga has heart issues, Balia has kidney problems,” he had told media on Thursday.
