Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday caught Odisha Forest Development Corporation (OFDC) depot Supervisor of Jharsuguda Sumant Paikray red-handed while taking bribe of Rs 16,000 from Daitari Pradhan of Raghunathpalli to allow him to lift firewood from the OFDC.
Jharsuguda DSP Vigilance Dillip Kumar Kar said Pradhan had got work order to lift fire wood in six lots. However, the Supervisor asked him to pay bribe of Rs 25,000 for issuance of challan. Subsequently, Pradhan finalised to give Rs 16,000 and informed the matter to the Vigilance.
After the trap, Vigilance officers raided Paikarya’s native house at Chhatipur in Khordha district and rented house at BTM here.
