The Congress workers led by Jharsuguda MLA Naba Das launched a mass dharna and protest in front of the Jharsuguda Collectorate on Friday with slogans denouncing demonetisation and the Centre's role in destruction of the RBI's autonomy.
Das said that being an expert in taking overnight decision, the demonetisation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has completed three years on Thursday.
Taking unilateral decision on November 8, 2016, PM Modi had scrapped currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denominations.
He had implemented demonetisation to curb black money, stop fake notes and repatriate back money from foreign countries. But all these efforts have miserably failed in our country, said MLA Das, who is also a PCC working president.
District Congress president GR Panda, general secretaries Pintu Padhi, Sidharth Sarkar,Mahila Morcha president Sarita Agarwal and Youth Congress president Robin Pandey among others participated.
