The construction work for a super specialty cardiac care hospital at Jharsuguda for which local MLA and Health Minister Naba Kisore Das had laid foundation-stone is moving at a snail’s pace here.
The project is coming up near the District Headquarters Hospital at Balijori. The entire population of western Odisha will be greatly benefited from the hospital as it is a first of its kind in the region and the people here won’t have to go to far-off places for treatment. While the hospital has a two years timeline for completion, its budget outlay was some Rs 32 crore. After entering agreement with the Hyderabad based Manjira Construction Limited, the work had started on August 28, 2018 with a target to complete it by August 19, 2020.
An agreement had been made with Quality Care Hospital Private Limited to provide all technical knowhow and required equipment, besides taking over the management of the hospital.
Meanwhile, Minister Das hoped that the mega hospital project would be completed soon and start functioning. He further informed that a mega cancer hospital is also going to be constructed with finance from the District Mineral Foundation (DMF). That apart, construction work is continuing in full swing for a mega diagnostic centre at Jharsuguda and Laikera with cooperation by Vedanta Company.
Das told that Health Card project will also be initiated soon for the benefit of all citizens of the district. Besides, he said that recently, the State Government has already decided to open a nursing centre with 60 seats.
