With Covid-19 cases increasing, a sixth-phase of weekend shutdown began in Jharsuguda on Saturday. The streets of Jharsuguda, Brajrajn-agar and Belpahar wore a deserted look. The weekend shutdown that had started on July 1 would continue till August 16. Police have been checking vehicles at chhaks, lanes and bylanes for any unnecessary movement.
All shops and bazaars have remained closed. Petrol pumps, milk supply, water and power supply have been exempted from the shutdown restrictions. SP Rahul PR is personally monitoring the situation. As of Saturday evening, a total 374 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the district, including 1 death and 303 discharges, the DIPRO said.
