Iyer's hotel stay: Police to summon Chitra

Published on:

Commissioner of Police Dr RP Sharma on Friday informed that summons would be issued to Chitra Athwani, under whose name arrested Deccan Chronicle vice-chairman PK Iyer had booked a room in Hotel Trident in the city. “We have to find out the reason that why Iyer booked room in the name of Chitra and also to figure out the connection between Iyer and the lady. Summons will be issued to her to appear before the police to depose herself,” said Sharma.

Sources said Iyer had first arrived at the hotel with Chitra on February 14 around 2 am.  They had stayed together for 10 days after which she had left the hotel. Iyer, however, booked a room in the same hotel in her name and continued to stay till his arrest. So far, the police have discovered that Mumbai girl Chitra works as an air hostess and shared a very good rapport with Iyer. The police are now investigating the place they came from when they reached the hotel and the reason she left Iyer after 10 days of staying together.
