BK Sharma on Monday took over charge as the new D-G of Prisons and said it is a challenging task and there are many pending works to be taken up. Speaking to reporters, Sharma said, “My predecessor has done a good job. Construction of new jails is on which is to be completed. Also I have to expedite the new Jail Manual making task.”
“Priority will be given to improve the lifestyle and basic amenities of the jail inmates. Stress will also be laid on the issues and problems of the jail staff. What career prospect can be improved, prospective incentives and future training for enhancing the professionalism among the jail employees,” he added.
“Infrastructure, like new jails, jail security, installation of CCTVs, expansion of amenities is a priority,” Sharma said.
Notably, the State Government last week effected a major reshuffle in the senior IPS cadre and Sharma was entrusted with the new assignment.
