Itishree case: BJP Mahila Morcha FIR against CM

The BJP Mahia Morcha on Wednesday lodged an FIR at the Capital police station here against Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik accusing him of being equally guilty in the Itishree murder case.

Morcha State president Simantini Jena said Itishree Pradhan was being harassed, physically and mentally, by SI of Schools Netrananda Dandasena. Despite her three FIRs against him at the Tikiri police station, no action was taken.

“She had also apprised the District Magistrate, Rayagada SP, Collector and Human Rights Commission, State Women’s Commission and DG Police (with copy to the CMO) of her grievance, but in vain,” Jena said. “No authorities, except the HRC, acted on Itishree’s complaint,” Jena added.

In this case, not only Dandasena and the assailant who set her ablaze are culprits but all the other officials including DI of School, Rayagada SP, Collector, DM, Mass Education Minister RN Nanda, Koraput MP Jayram Pangi and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik are also responsible for protecting and encouraging Dandasena as an act of commission ignoring the repeated pleas of Itishree to provide her protection, Jena said. He added that hence all of them are liable for arrest and prosecution under criminal law, particularly after the dying declaration of the victim.
