A special exhibition on information technology (IT) for visually-challenged students was held here on Thursday.
Inaugurating the exhibition at the district Collectorate, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Surjya Narayan Patro urged upon people to voluntarily donate body parts, including eyes, in large numbers. He asked the voluntary organisations to spread awareness on this among people.
IT instruments such as Braille printer, speech recognition software, Junax Instant Reader and optical character recognition were on display at the exhibition by Brailleworld Index Technology and Karishma Enterprisers.
The instructors made the visitors understand the practical use and benefits of each instrument.
Students from the Ravenshaw University, Ravenshaw Junior College, SB Women’s College, JKBK College, BJB College, Ramadevi Women’s College and students of blind schools visited the exhibition in large numbers.
