Irregularities in Gudvella block alleged

Gudvella block Panchayat Samiti Chairman Ashok Dora has threatened to go on a hunger strike before the block office from August 7 if action is not taken against the BDO and the Cashier and the special audit into utilisation of funds is not conducted for 2016-17 and 2017-18.

In a seven-point memorandum submitted to the Balangir district Collector, Dora alleged that both BDO Vigyan Kumbhar and Cashier Prabhat Mallick are involved in irregularities and have violated different Government provisions.

Dora said even if the District Audit Officer and local Fund Audit Officer have come six times but returned without conducting audits. Special audit has also been postponed three times, he pointed out.

He mentioned the District Rural Development Agency Project Director has also issued a letter to the BDO to transfer Mallick to Titlagarh but yet he hasn’t been transferred. He demanded to take action against both the officials and conduct a special audit for the year 2016-17 and 2017-18.

When contacted, BDO Kumbhar said, “It is for the audit party to say whether they will conduct audit or not. I don’t have power to stop audit.” The past audit was postponed due to strike by ministerial staffs and training on election matter and the next audit has been fixed on August 7, he added.
