Irregularities galore in OPSC exams: BJP demands CBI probe

Published on:

The BJP has demanded a CBI probe into alleged massive irregularities into the OAS, Assistant Engineer, OJS and several other examinations conducted by the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC).

BJP State vice-president Samir Mohanty told reporters here on Tuesday that candidates having secured less marks in these examinations have been appointed against the successful candidates.

The State Government has violated the recruitment norms and conditions as well as the SAT directives in the recruitment process, said Mohanty, adding that the massive irregularities took place in the departments which are under the control of the Chief Minister.

Even as the recruitment process is sub-judice, the CM handed over the appointment letters to the candidates. While lakhs of youths are unemployed, who is the prime conspirator to provide the appointment letters to those unqualified candidatesIJ Mohanty questioned.

The Assistant Section Officer (ASO) examination conducted by the OPSC has violated the guidelines of the commission, he said.

Alleging of the OMR sheet tampering, he said copies of the written examination results were not made available on the website before publication of the results.

The OPSC allegedly violated its guidelines when its Chairman on August 15 directed to complete the document verification on August 26 instead of September 2, Mohanty said.

He also raised question on the use of Smartphone by the candidates at the examination centres.

The State Administrative Tribunal (SAT) in its directive had made it clear that no results would be announced without its permission. However, violating the SAT order, the OPSC announced the examination results, he said.

He also accused the OPSC of issuing appointment letters to the candidates who have appeared at the BTech examination and are yet to get their mark-sheets, receiving the undertaking letter from them.

Mohanty further demanded that the Government conduct reexaminations and appoint the candidates who qualify in the examinations.
