Iron mafias are once again active in the Joda-Barbil area. This came to light when the Joda police seized a pile of iron ore pellets weighing about 62 tonnes near the Bansapani railway station under the Joda police station on Tuesday. The market price of the seized material was said to be around Rs 2.5 lakh.
But the police has failed to arrest anyone in this regard. However, sources close to Joda PS IIC Sumeet Soren revealed that an inter-State racket is working in the scam of iron pellets and some factory officials, transport agents and factory owners of Raigarh who are under police scanner are going to be arrested very soon.
As iron pellet is coming under Central excise, it is demanded that local Central excise officials should be more vigilant, otherwise it would lead to great losses to the revenue of the Government.
